We are off to the Temple early this morning so I won't have time for my regular daybook post. I will save that for tomorrow when I have more time. Sorry to disappoint anyone who has come here looking for that today!
We haven't been to the Temple since before Todd started with his treatments. It will be really nice to once more be sitting within its walls, partaking of the beautiful spirit which we find there. Away from wordly cares and worries. A little bit of heaven here on earth . . .
The Preston England Temple is the 52nd operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The LDS Church took root in Preston, Lancashire, when the first Mormon missionaries arrived in 1837.
The first Baptisms into the Church in the UK took place in the River Ribble, near Preston . . . on the 30th of July, 1837, only 10 days after the missionaries arrived here, witnessed by several thousand curious people on the banks of the river. In fact the Preston Ward is the church's oldest continuous congregation, having been founded in 1837. If, in the early days of the church, its members had been encouraged to bloom where they were planted, the UK would now be like the Utah of the world, and probably the church head quarters. Many, many North American Latter Day Saints can trace their roots right back here to the UK. I find the history of the church in the UK to be quite interesting. If you would like to read more about it, you can find it here. It's really quite fascinating.
Several years ago the church did a presentation on the grounds of the Preston Temple, called the British Pageant. Entitled "Truth Will Prevail" it is the heartfelt story of the arrival of the first Missionaries to the UK told through story, music and dance. It was just wonderful. My friend Carolyn acted in it.
Its being put on again this year.

- Matinee Performances - Saturday 5th, Friday 11th & Saturday 12th at 3.00pm

Spiritual Enlightenment
In The English Kitchen today . . . Beef Casserole with Horseradish Dumplings. This is delicious. The dumplings are like little horseradish filled swiss roll biscuits baked on top of the finished stew. Quite simply fabulous!
